Identifying Squirrel Poop
It is important to know what kind of droppings you are looking for, as this can be one of the easiest ways to determine what type of animal you are dealing with. Since squirrels are part of the rodent family, they also have pellet shaped droppings that resemble a grain of rice. However, since squirrels are larger than other rodents, their droppings are also larger.
The color of their droppings will also change from a dark brown to a light brown over time. Fresh droppings will be dark brown, so if you are noticing exclusively dark brown droppings, your problem is likely a new one. However, if you are finding both dark and light brown pellets, your problem could potentially be older.
You should always wear gloves and a face mask when you think you may be coming into contact with squirrel droppings.
